Gloxinia of Repose is a character from The Seven Deadly Sins, a popular anime and manga series created by Nakaba Suzuki. He plays a key role in the "Ten Commandments" arc and has a complex backstory.

Background:

Gloxinia was once the king of the Fairy Forest and the first Fairy King, wielding the sacred weapon Spirit Spear Basquias, much like his successor, King (Harlequin), who wields Spirit Spear Chastiefol. However, Gloxinia eventually becomes one of the Ten Commandments, a group of elite warriors who serve under the Demon King. He holds the Commandment of Repose, which punishes those who harbor hatred in their hearts, making them unable to engage in combat.


Story and Key Events:
Betrayal and Transformation: Thousands of years ago, Gloxinia witnessed the Fairy Clan being attacked, and he believed that his younger sister, Gerheade, was killed by humans. This caused him immense grief and anger, leading him to lose faith in other races. Eventually, he joined the Demon Clan and accepted the Demon King’s offer to become a member of the Ten Commandments, despite being from the Fairy Clan.

Encounter with the Seven Deadly Sins: Gloxinia, along with Drole, another Commandment, encounters the Seven Deadly Sins during the events of the anime and manga. Through his interactions with King and Diane, Gloxinia begins to question his own choices, especially after seeing King’s potential as the next Fairy King.

Redemption: In the later part of the story, Gloxinia undergoes a change of heart after a series of events where he realizes that his actions as a member of the Ten Commandments were misguided. He ultimately sacrifices himself in a battle, choosing to side with the Sins and rejecting the Demon Clan.

Characteristics:
Appearance: Gloxinia is quite distinct, with long red hair, elf-like features, and butterfly-like wings. He has an androgynous appearance and is often mistaken for a female due to his delicate features.

Personality: Initially, Gloxinia is shown as cold and distant, holding onto deep bitterness and mistrust. However, beneath this is a character who once deeply cared for his people and the forest he ruled over. Over time, his kindness and sense of justice resurface, and he shows regret for the decisions he made under the Demon King’s influence.

Powers: Gloxinia is incredibly powerful due to his Fairy King heritage and his control over Spirit Spear Basquias. Basquias has different forms, such as a whip-like form, a protective form, and an attack mode using the power of nature. He also has strong regenerative abilities and can control life energy, which allows him to heal others.
 

Commandment of Repose: Gloxinia’s Commandment of Repose has the power to prevent those with hatred in their hearts from taking action against him or his allies. This essentially renders opponents who harbor negative emotions helpless in his presence.
 

Gloxinia's character arc is one of redemption and reflection, as he struggles with the consequences of his past actions and ultimately chooses to atone for his sins.
